Q. Could Trump do anything to reassure us that presenting himself as Jesus Christ was just a bit of fun?
A. I don’t think he’s capable of that. The next day, yes, he took down the post of himself as Jesus, but then posted Jesus putting an arm around him in some celestial light – in other words he implies he’s not Jesus, but he’s the Jesus Prophet, specially chosen to bring truth to the world. So, it’s insane. It is delusions of grandeur - he cannot be dissuaded from it - he’s the only one who can fix things now.
Because he’s deteriorating, the messianism is becoming more disconnected from reality. That’s psychotic. Delusions are not amenable to any level of argument or facts. He believes he is the messianic one and no one is going to convince him that that’s not true. This is really serious.
Q. You mentioned he might be having a manic episode – what does that comprise of?
A. Lack of sleep, lack of inhibition, acting out. His energy level is flagging because of dementia. He is also over-activated and unable to reach a state of calm - he’s agitated at night and passing out during the day. In a state of over-activation, he actually believes these fantastical grandiose ideas.
And because he is a malignant narcissist, he’s getting a thrill out of war. He gets a dopamine rush from blowing stuff up. And talking about war has that quality of a serial sadist, saying with glee that the US military is looking forward to its next conquest!
The Iranians are winning the battle of wits imho. Though, tbf, that’s not saying much. Seriously though, they have got a hold where it hurts and Trump is squealing. He’s going to taco again, everyone knows it.
Just discovered Timothy Snyder, who speaks so lucidly about Trump’s America.
“Superpower Suicide” is a concept to help understand the approach of the Trump regime to the rest of the world. We are fighting a war for no reason we can name, losing it, and covering our defeat with genocidal and apocalyptic propaganda. This is bad enough on its own; but I think this performance is symptomatic of something deeper — a systematic undoing of American power by Americans. In this video I stay close to very traditional accounts of the accumulation and maintenance of state power, all of which indicate rapid and catastrophic decline as the result of specific choices in the last year. I don’t even mention one source of US power which is specifically modern: the international structures we built over decades to ensure our centrality, which the Trump people are undoing. Many of the American fundamentals are still very sound, but a better future, or any kind of future at all, will depend on a sober reckoning with the present moment.
His video is outdoors and a bit wind noisy, but the transcript button is underneath.
I think Snyder hits the nail on the head when he says that the current US administration is focused on the personal financial enrichment of Trump and his cronies. Start a war that has the obvious outcome of the closure of the Straight of Hormuz. Raise the price of oil and gas and make a fortune as the US is a substantial exporter.
Then of course there is all the insider trading that has been going on in the minutes prior to one of Trump’s market influencing social media posts.
The cabal in DC is making a fortune at the expense of the rest of the world.
