Used to stay at a youth hostel many years ago with my son in Plakias. Very creaky bunkbeds!

I love Greece, and Crete in particular - I’ve been going there on and off since I first visited on a school trip many moons ago (when the Junta were in power!).
Crete was fairly high on my list of possible retirement destinations, until Brexit happened and the Greeks decided to impose a €30,000 minimum income requirement for non-EU retirees…
So France is back in pole position (and a more practical choice anyway, really…)
Keep highlighting these Brexit benefits.
Im not bitter.
Better health care in France and I believe less need to have friends in positions of authority to get things done.
I’m still No1 fan though.
Yes that was a contributing factor as well - though I certainly won’t have €30K a year so it’s academic.
And property prices in Crete have gone up a fair bit too in recent years, and Cretan village houses tend to be a bit poky inside.
