I came across this video of Vic Flick selling one of his Strats.

Interesting bridge pickup! Not a typical single coil…not surprised he got such a fortune for it, my easiest guitar to play & one of my favourites is a ‘63 strat, my birth year.
I’ve had rails PUs in strats in the past, but they’re not my thing (usually too thin and shrill). I’d like a proper vintage strat of course, but reasonably happy with the couple I own.
In the late 70s I was playing in a band in Croydon, and the other guitar player, a few years older than me, bought a brand new ash strat. It was an absolute boat anchor, and while it was bending your shoulder downwards, it also sounded really thin and weedy. We briefly swapped guitars for a song at rehearsal, and I couldn’t hand it back fast enough. OTOH he seemed happy with it - his previous main guitar was a Shergold Matador, and they always sounded a bit odd - I picked up one cheap that needed rewiring a few years later, and it was always a bit odd too.
