Open Return Train Tickets with SNCF

Hello,


I've been navigating my way around SNCF's French website trying to find a way to buy open return tickets, in particular leaving and returning on the same day but can't seem to find how it can be done. The normal booking menu is for fixed times.


I've been to stations and have been able to buy open return tickets on the day from the machines, but without having the option of a fixed return time. Not really an issue as far as my query goes,


Does anyone have any idea if its possible to buy an open return online or is this something that would have to done person-to-person at the station?

Failed to do it four times and thought it was just me! I find it incredulous too.

It's hard to believe that it can't be done online, Brian.
