Orange email set up

Hi, don’t know if it’s my age, but everything seems to be presenting m we with a problem since moving here! I signed up with Orange when we got over here but when I try to add it to my chosen email app it keeps saying invalid email address or password which I know is not right. I have tried downloading different email apps as I know they can be a problem sometimes.
Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience?

I left Orange to be its own thing and only check the app when it says I have a message from them. Don’t need to try to mesh with their email address.

Are you using POP3 or IMAP server?

IMAP, do you think POP3 would make a difference?

What phone?

Automatic or manual setup?

t’ internet says

Imap (incoming):
Server: imap.orange.fr
Port: 993
Security: SSL
Username: your.email@orange.fr
Password: Your orange.fr password

SMTP (outgoing)
Server: smtp.orange.fr
Port: 465
Security: SSL
Username: your.email@orange.fr
Password: Your orange.fr password

Pop3 (if you must, not really recommended).
Server: pop.orange.fr
Port: 995
Security: SSL
Username: your.email@orange.fr
Password: Your orange.fr password

No. The mail protocol has nothing to do with whether passwords work or not.

In any case you don’t want POP3, it’s old hat - especially if you access your email on more than one device (e.g. computer, phone, tablet).

With IMAP everything is synchronised via the central mail server, including replies to incoming emails and deletions.

With POP3 each device acts independently so a reply (or new email) sent from your phone does not show up on the other devices, leading to confusion.

Confusion leads to fear, fear leads to hate, and hate leads to the Dark Side of the Force.

Of course, there is no dark side of the force really. Matter of fact, it’s all dark.
