I always ask for a chocolatine too, apparently the English are getting some of the blame for this nonsense due to Aquitaine being under our control in the 15th century when the term chocolatine first came into use.
Where I come from (the SE) we call them pains au chocolat.
The bakers closest to my work have a neat compromise, they make chocolatines which are basically a square of croissant dough rolled up with 2 strips of chocolate inside; but also pains au chocolat which is a square of baguette dough rolled up with 2 strips of chocolate inside.
Both are delicious. I prefer the baguette version, personally, it reminds me of goûter when I was small, baguette with a row of squares of dark choc shoved inside.
