Is a Passenger Locator Form required for travel to France by Ferry? Specifically Brittany Ferries Portsmouth to Caen. I ask because any attempt to complete a EU dPLF (digital Passenger Locator Form), only allows me the option of travelling by air, despite the user manual stating that there is an option for ferry travel.
My understanding is that you don’t need anything (other than a vaccine statement) to travel TO France but you do need one of those forms for getting back to the UK.
However, @Ancient_Mariner has done this extremely recently so he’ll be able to confirm
From UK to France-vaccination papers and sworn statement is all that is needed. From France to UK-vaccination papers and Passenger Locator Form.Have just looked on BF site and they haven,t bothered to update the travel document requirements yet, very sloppy,no wonder there is confusion as to what papers are needed.
We travelled out two weeks ago using the tunnel, but aren’t the rules generic regardless of travel mode?
We had to complete an attestation for the french authorities regarding our symptom status and mentioning where we were going, but not a specific PLF.
Return to UK yesterday required a PLF from the gov site.
Thank you for the quick responses. They have been very reassuring. The PLF for return to UK is not now required, my question was about getting into France. I have the Covid vaccination certificates and Attestation, both paper and digital.
In that case, all you need is an attestation to the effect that you haven’t been in contact with Covid.
A little late coming back to the party - yes, now you will just need proof of vaccination and the attestation to enter France.
You do need a PLF to return to UK. OH had to show one at Ouistreham this morning.
I’ve just travelled that route 3 days ago. I needed the declaration to say I hadn’t been in contact with anyone with Covid. Plus the lateral flow certificate stating I’m negative.
Yes, thats my understanding too.
Eh? What Lateral Flow Cert? France has only had the ‘Declaration …’ for some time now.
The ferry co’s want these forms presented at check-in. I had this as a foot pax ex Ouistreham and by vehicle ex Newhaven but nobody was interested at Portsmouth or Dieppe.
I’ve always preferred to go by the official guidelines rather than the ‘he said/she said’ of internet forums. The French Embassy in London tends to be up to date - and, more importantly, accurate.
Fair enough, Brian. And here it is, from the Embassy link you provided.
- Fully vaccinated – from 11 February
If you qualify as fully vaccinated for travel to England, you:
will not need to take a COVID-19 test before you travel to England or after you arrive
will not need to quarantine when you arrive
You will need to complete a passenger locator form before you travel to England.
And that’s it.
Perhaps hlatswayo was not ‘fully vaccinated’ because then you do need to show a neg L.F.T.
Going GB > FR
From Saturday 12 February 2022 onwards, vaccinated people do not need to take any COVID-19 travel tests before they travel to France from the UK.
Prior to departure, vaccinated people authorized to enter France from the UK will have to present to the transport company (depending on their situation):
1. Proof of vaccination
Since 1 February 2022 , in order for their vaccination schedule to continue to be recognised as complete, persons aged 18 years or older wishing to enter French territory must have received a booster dose of messenger RNA vaccine no later than nine months after receiving the last mandatory dose.
2. A sworn statement
A sworn statement certifying the absence of COVID-19 symptoms and of any contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to their crossing.
De la bouche du cheval.
What has amazed me is that at no time, including the period when D2 tests were mandatory, P.L.F.s for UK and 'Declarations … ’ for FR, has anyone other than the ferry check-ins wanted to see anything.
As a foot pax Caen - Pompey in Nov I just wandered out into the street. Nobody was wearing a mask on the streets, in the port building, on the bus, in the station or on the train - 15-20 yoof got on the train in a mob, not a mask between them. I was glad to be back in FR 24 hrs later.
And now Bojo has decided it’s all OK. No need for any precautions… Party On!
