Pet beds! Where to get them?

HI all, in brain’s my never-ending quest to pop out queries that are not relevant to anything right-this-minute, but still important, a question about dog bedding. I will be arriving mid-morning in France, then drive an hour or so to my first 3-month lodging, an AirBnB. Pets are welcome/encouraged (yay!) but none of the needs are provided. So on Day One I will need to procure: dog beds, dog food bowls, dog food, and treats. What larger French magasins should I look for? I will be midway between Toulouse and Carcassonne, so stopping on the Toulouse outskirts for a “big box” will probably not be a problem. TIA - Sue

You can go to the foir’fouille, animal factory, any jardinerie (but it’ll be more expensive ) and probably others.

Gamm vert are widespread (other garden centres exist: GV is the one nearest us), in case you see one on your way!

Maxi-Zoo is a nationwide pet store chain and there’s one in Carcassonne!

Also Action for cheap pet beds and cheap everything else too

I’m sure I’ve seen them in places like Action.

Could ask your airbnb if you could get something delivered a day or so before you arrive? And then order online at Zoomalia or MaxiZoo.

You and dogs are going to be tired and having trip to supermarket might not be the best first experience of France.

We do long stays on the other side of France and generally have found hosts very helpful and willing to receive parcels (not tried it with AirBnB host tho’)

Lidl snd Aldi stores have weeks when they do pet stuff a few times a year.

Lidl.fr online has Animaux pet weeks. Big on beds for dogs and cats ususlly.

There are pet specialist warehouse type stores like Pets At Home in the UK, hopefully someone will post a shop name for the one in France that is similar.

You could take a quick look on amazon.fr, rakuten.fr, cdiscount.fr look for “Lits animaux” as a starter to get an idea of market pricing.

It’s Castel’ so honestly you don’t need to go to Toulouse or Carcassonne. There is an Action which may have what you need and will be the cheapest, in the same shopping area you have a big Inter marche and bricomarche, both which may have dog beds, although more likely the brico and loads of other shops. You can get your first day food at either the Intermarche or there is a Lidl there as well.

Great stores, just don’t trust their stock level online.

Er, that was the essence of my previous post…

We bought one there a few weeks ago.

Awesome, TY!

BINGO spot! Even better!

TBH, that first night, I may let them sleep on the bed with me. One always has, regardless of how many pet beds I have set up. Plus, they’ll be stressed from the flight.

If you’re driving from Toulouse, there’s a big Maxi Zoo next to the Leclerc at Saint Orens De Gameville. There’s an Action next door as well. I’ve never used them but I have been in the Leclerc there. It’s on the Revel road out of Toulouse on the south eastern outskirts and quite close to the autoroute to Castelnaudary. There’s also a Grand Frais there, which is the best store for fruit and veg.

Just noticed @toryroo answer and there’s a Maxi Zoo next to that Action in Castelnaudary as well. I’ve been there several times and never noticed :person_facepalming:. No Grand Frais though :frowning:. If you like a glass of good wine, there’s also a big Comptoir des Vignes nearby which gives you a much better choice than at the supermarkets.

Lasting strength for :paw_prints: , maybe not the cheapest but less confusing than the plethora of options
