Petit Emile

I just hope to god they find him this night. He is only a couple of months younger than my grandson and I know how I would feel if it were him. I don’t understand the grandmother leaving him outside alone for half an hour to be honest as at that age they need to have eyes on them all the time unless they are indoors. Pray he is found safe and sound.

I’ve been following this, all day… very worrying… little legs can trundle a long way…
fingers crossed it will turn out OK…

Seems he was happily playing in the garden… which should have been fine…
and no-one is pointing the finger or blaming anyone.

Yes but see how my grandson opened the front door and got into the street, they can escape very easily which is why the grandma should have been keeping an eye on him all the time. The news report said he was a good walker for his age so will possibly just fallen asleep somewhere. I had a neighbour a few years back who had a toddler. Imagine the horror when I saw him on the busy road at the front of our corner of the village with cars stopping to avoid him. I ran and grabbed him, took him round the back, banged on the front door. His mum was talking to her friend on the mobile and had no idea he had even got out and was not even bothered. I was treated as interferring so you can see why I get a bit bothered about such things.

Believe me, I can well understand your concern.

I can still remember how I felt when our toddler daughter went missing… albeit briefly and (as it happens) accompanied by an adult who thought she was being kind taking the little one for a stroll !!!

let’s both keep our fingers crossed…

Not saying anything terrible has happened to the dear little fellow, and seriously hoping he is just fallen asleep in someone’s barn but there is a definite urgency in every respect. The police usually say that the chances of finding a child safe and sound rapidly diminish within a frighteningly short time.

My godson once hot footed away at a busy amusement park in Hong Kong. The police asked his mother what shoes he was wearing. When children are abducted the kidnapper has spare clothes to quickly change the child’s appearance but shoes are too hard to predict. Luckily, it was Hong Kong and the adventurous blond little boy was soon propelled with an ice-cream into the park reception office by a kindly young couple within the hour.

Makes CCTV seem a lot more useful.

I have been worried all night, such a small child to be out alone and he must be hungry and frightened to death. I will never forget the fear we felt once at Chessington World of Adventures when my daughter who was three was on a roundabout but got off on the opposite side to where we were waiting for her. Frantic we were and then heard a call to say a little girl in a blue raincoat was at the first aid station. Whatever can the parents of Emile be going through.

I commend you! Never stop doing what you know to be right. You may well have saved that little boy’s life. The mother was probably just reacting out of shame and shock.

I always feel that the universe (or whatever higher power there may be) puts us exactly where we must be to help someone, exactly at the right moment. Above all things to protect life.

Just maybe 30 seconds hoovering under the bed was all it took for my 2year old to slip past me unnoticed out of the open French windows into the garden and out onto the road.(The gates were only open because we were waiting for the plumber, who after all never turned up
)I was so convinced he could not have got past me that I searched the house for 5/10 minutes before realising with growing panic he had escaped.
Meanwhile he had crossed 2 roads and reached the main village road.Luckily it was just before the increased lunchtime traffic and he was noticed and stopped by a couple of people.
After an agonising 10 minutes searching the surrounding area with my neighbour I saw in the distance a group of people ,one of them carrying a child with a blue top at the edge of the main road,and I was very relieved indeed to find he hadn’t been run over;
Mind you I don’t think my reputation in the village was enhanced as one of the people was a localchildminder.

So I really feel for that poor family.I hope they find him safe and sound.

If anyone hears a News Report please update us… I’m almost holding my breath…
so wanting the little chap to be found safe and sound… :crossed_fingers: :crossed_fingers:

Just watched the Procurer and Prefet give a press conference. It didn’t inspire confidence particularly as they don’t seem to be invested in the possibility of foul play. We also found it very strange that no family members, parents, grandparents were present as they usually make very moving and effective calls for public assistance in finding the missing child. Apparently no Red Alert for suspected Enlevenment has been issued as certain criteria have not been established. Fearing the worst-case scenario but hoping for a little miracle.

I’ve had a similar experience. A neighbour had a toddler, perhaps 3 or 4 years old. One day I heard crying, went out, and found him at the side of the road. She had gone off shopping in the car and left him alone at home - something we suspected she did often. The boy had managed to open the door and walk 200m or so down a lane from the house, to the road, just in his socks. I was carrying him back home when his Mum drove back down the lane. She was not particularly bothered.

Our daughter once hid from us while we were in a busy shop, moving between racks of clothes to stop us finding her. We had a very anxious 20 mins before she was discovered and brought back with hot, cross eyes.

I haven’t heard about this child elsewhere, but I hope he’s found safe and sound.

I can well imagine. I noticed here too, some french mothers put their babies into sleeping bag outfits that are fixed to the cot sides so they can’t get out or hardly move and one neighbour used to go to the boulangerie and leave her babies alone like that.

There is a mention in the Mail this evening for those who don’t understand enough french to see what happened.

Reported in the Guardian this morning.

This may indicate a new development but not one of hope

According to the press releases over the last 24 hours… they feel that he couldn’t have gone further than they have searched… therefore he should still be in the vicinity…
This is what makes them wonder if there was an accident of some kind (car/tractor/whatever) and the boy’s body has been hidden…

The only other route of enquiry would be “kidnapping”… but that doesn’t seem to hold any weight…

it’s all very, very sad… and, yes… I know there’s a lot of other awful happenings in the world at the moment, but such a little chap and not so very far away… it does pull at the heartstrings :sob:

Hoping this is not relevant but a coincidence

This earlier one does sound like an abduction.

Interesting take on events from Segolene Royal - [Not getting much coverage in the French Media ???
