Petition to reopen the train line between Limoges & Angouleme

Thought that I’d let folks be aware of a petition to reopen the train line.

Is not repair work on the line still continuing?

When did it close ?

It closed in Mid-2018.
There is a replacement bus service (which is not very good).

I am unaware of any repair work to the line.

However due to the new bypass (N141), the rail bridges between Chabanais and Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure have been rebuilt (which must have cost millions).

can anyone find something more recent… this is what I’ve been reading…

Having driven from Bordeaux to Limoges many, many times I, for one, can’t wait for the deux fois deux voies between Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure et Exideuil-sur-Vienne to open… I think it’s sadly still a few years off though.

As far as I am aware, the bridges have all been built and tarmacking has started.
I’m hoping that it will open end of this year or mid 2025 at the latest.

Ooh, that’s good to know. For some reason I thought it had been delayed to 2027.

The line from Limoges through to Aixe-sur-Vienne and Saint Junien then on to Saillet-Chassenon always had a train service until the 10 kilometers of track enhancement referred to in the article/video.

Its the section between Saillat-Chassenon and Angouleme that has had no trains since 2018.
