Phillips Senseo Original coffee machine

The compostable can mean many things so a bit more info as compostable can mean the chemicals used leach quicker into the soil rather than being made of something that is completely bio.
At least aluminium is recylable but as with anything the downside is you consume aluminium which is not good, is there a refilable stainless steel option?

That must be the best as I grind the beans from Lavazza on occasion

We spent a day trying to find our local recycling place. Without success.

Yes although I would not advise refiling it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

A Pavoni? I need to visit your place for coffee.

I was possibly looking at a Lelit coffee machine for my next one. Looking up La Pavoni some of the Lelit machines look suspiciously very similar to La Pavoni ones

Just give it a week until the new pressurestat arrives

I have always wanted a Europiccola. Mostly, I just like saying it, over and over. …I’m sure I wouldn’t like keeping it clean.

The last place I worked they threw the beautiful and very large Italian coffee machine in a skip :sob: I wasnt allowed to have it so it went for scrap instead of having it serviced. Oh well doesnt matter it is only the public purse they were waisting :rage:

Mine is the copper and brass variant. I did clean and polish it meticulously for years but now it’s lapsed into a sort of fin de siecle patina. I might give it a going over with the Autosol while I have it on the bench though.

I suspect a lot of the Italian ones now are just collections of the same parts, arranged differently. I have a Mokita in stainless with a brass boiler that I think is made up of the same parts Lelit uses.

So I’m not the only La Pavoni owner on here. Mine is probably 40 years old too. A simple piece of equipment like an old car I suppose. Easy to service and repair.

Now you’re beginning to interest me.

What sort of machine is yours? I see lever and manual.

They do look impressive bits of kit and worth keeping an eye out for. :coffee:

If you like your daily cup to be exactly the same every day they might not be to your taste. There are a lot of variables unless you weigh your coffee and use some sort of gauge to get the exact same pressure each time.

Kind of like owning a hammer. Not much can go wrong, but if it does, you know it can be fixed.

Yes after my DeLonghi magnifica which was very compex to fix and the final fix was done by the service centre as it was a bit unclear exactly what had packed up. Then it died for the last time. The plus was the way it could make cup after cup the same.

I had the grinder jam up on mine, easy to fix once you can get it out. Hardest part was getting the vibrating cover off in the bean hopper. Oh and then making sure everything else, cog wise, is in exactly the same place🙄
