Yes, for DeLonghi Magnifica. Mine’s six or seven years old, used daily for black coffee. Cleaned and descaled according to the warning lights.

My grandson liked it and bought one, non-working, from ebay then stripped and rebuilt it with £20 parts from DeLonghi.

None of the pod machine (some very expensive) coffee I have had would convince me to buy one.

Delonghi Magnifica for me as well, first one went wrong after quite some time, used everyday. so order a replacement, then fixed the old one (just a faulty pump) so a win win as we have one in UK an one in france

I am trying hard not to get another bean to cup Delonghi, I may look at the Sage equivalent, anyone have feedback on those?

The same happened on my brothers Magnifica. You need to avoid beans with very dark roasts and keep them in the freezer once the packet is opened. This avoids too much of the natural oils in the beans gunking up the grinder.

My son has a Sage Oracle Touch. It makes great coffee, with plenty of variants and the ability to programme your own brew. But if something goes wrong they can be a problem. Repairs are very expensive and, in my son’s case, took 3 months as a part was on back order.

My youngest brother has a Sage bean to cup device - not sure how it compares to DeLonghi. He likes the coffee it makes but finds it a bit of a faff.

Hence why I opted for the simplicity of Nespresso pods, I have the attention span of a gnat.

Apart from filling up the bean hopper its a one button opperation unless its frothing milk which I dont have anyway.

I think some frothery may be involved. I don’t intrude upon what he may get up to in the privacy of his own kitchen. :smiley:

I have them often as most schools have them in their staff room and everyone just brings thiet pods. Its better than instant. I tend to use one sachet thing but press the 2 cup in order to get more than a thimbleful.

I make my morning coffee (allongé) in a simple, inexpensive Aeropress, but use premium quality Ethiopian beans alternating between Yirgacheffe and Djimma varieties. so I remain more aware of their slightly different characteristics. The beans are freshly ground each morning in a manual grinder. It’s a simple pleasurable ritual that produces an excellent cup of coffee.

We have a Sage, and love it. Great coffee and ability to adjust details to get great coffee no matter what bean you are using. Sure you have to read instruction book and try a few things to find your preferences, but once that’s done it’s a matter if seconds for a decent cup of espresso with good créma.

I froth on Sunday’s as a special treat.

I don’t try to make espresso with it, I use it for café allongé (Americano) - it’s very different - much lighter roast, more complex flavours.

Thats what I got it for espresso as advertised but just like most advertising…
Yes my current beans are fine for the french press (I dont press) but over roasted for the aeropress so some flavours are missing, more of a slam dunk shot.

May I ask how old your sage machine is now?

Why do folk wax lyrical about coffee?
Sucked in by the industry to believe that its the thing to drink, at a price. I cannot believe how many coffee ‘shops’ there are.
Boiling water, a Yorkshire tea bag, blend for a minute then squeeze and remove bag and add milk. Perfect taste every time, whats not to like.

Me neither and overprice poor quality laced with sugar syrup of some kind to cover up the awful taste.

Or about cars, fashion, make up trends, a whole host of things that are accelerated by advertising. With obsessive interest in details that people who are not interested find totally bizarre.

I still remember the first time as a kid I was allowed to drink proper coffee, previously just had to sit in café while my nana sipped her espresso and chatted. But the smell was enticing.

Isn’t the diversity of life quite lovely?
