Hi all can anyone help me identify something ? They are plastic about 600mm x 20m and they link together they are weighted on the bottom but float in the pool ? It looks like you can link them to make a divided section of pool but we have no idea what they are for x we also have a lake here so maybe they are for in there rather than the pool !! Any ideas anyone ?

They are "flotteurs " - floats to put in the pool over winter to help prevent ice compression damage to the pool sides. I normally put a string of them down the mid-line and another across the width.
Anyone, anywhere in the world, do you have evidence they actually do anything?
Apart from that is, to get pool buyers to part with extra money and a hours extra wages for your pool person twice a year.
I’ve not got them in my pool and have never had a problem. Although the pool actually being frozen is a rare occurrence.

I use them, don’t know if they help but it’s no big deal to chuck them in/haul them out again.
