Posting from UK to our French neighbours

I’ve been asked if I can return a radio (no batteries), from England to our French neighbours, but am worried about any tariffs.
It was lent to us by the neighbours and probably worth 50€ but I hear horror stories of high customs costs.

Any ideas? - or should I wait until we are next in France.

It is very likely that they will pay duty and fees on the import.

It is also probable that the package will be opened in the UK. Two recent packages we received were subject to examination.

I would wait and return it in person.

I agree with Monsieur P

But if you do decide to post it mark it “returned goods” on the CN22 with a value of €0.

If they cannot or will not wait you may find it overall easier to buy them a new radio on amazon.fr… you can at least be sure it will not be stuck in customs…
