Hello, I am asking around about this test which is compulsory for a new driving license, if you are suspended for 6 months or more.
I had a test this morning in Nice.
I cannot speak French so the test was booked for me by a friend and I had no idea what to expect.
As usual I am informing myself after the experience.
Just a quick search and I reaslie I was charged three times the going rate. Im pretty sure I have failed as some of it was incomprehensible.
I was going to contest the suspension but was told by three lawyers that in Nice it would take two years and advised to just take the 6 months. Mine was for a speeding that I never did. After so many years of brits not taking points, a brit with a french licence sits in the crosshair of corupt revenge.
If someone has a test booked Iâll be happy to share details of my psychologue test but l have no idea if its standardised.
Can anyone share information about this test, first had or otherwise ?
I feel that is slightly paranoid. How could anyone know that a car had a British person in it? Were you stopped, or was it a speed camera? If you were stopped I think that not speaking French is probably more of an issue.
And to have your licence suspended suggests you must have been well over speed limit, not just a possible dispute if whether you were going at 85 or 82.
I remember a friend had to do it for having collected too many points. I think he said the main part was computer base testing his reflexes and so on, and then there was a short interview to make sure he knew the code de la route.
You can do practice tests, so if you donât pass then perhaps need to prepare a bit more?
The price seems to fluctuate wildly so you may not have been ripped off, it would seem you have to shop around the various centres agrées.
There is normally a course you go on too. I have no personal experience if this though, what I know is because a colleague of mine lost all her points in ones and twos and ended up without a licence, so itâs hearsay from about 6 years ago.
Surely if you were incorrectly accused of speeding you can prove it wasnât you? Thereâs a bit on the back of the form they send you which deals with such cases.
Nonsense.
A friend of mine was caught in âflagrance de dĂ©lit de grande vitesseâ (i.e. more than 30 kmh over the speed limit) and got a 6 month suspension. They ended up taking a course at a driving school, and one of those psych-eval tests, but I donât know how much it cost.
Hello @Jason and Welcome to the forumâŠ
Must say⊠I read your post twice⊠it all sounds such a nightmareâŠ
and I decided you must be joking (just a little ?)âŠ
However, if you are truly serious⊠and this did all happen as you relate⊠then it should be a lesson to us allâŠ
So letâs all take heed:
1: Do NOT exceed the Speed Limit
2: Do Not Allow anyone to arrange Anything on your behalf, unless you fully understand the implications thereinâŠ
3: Living in a foreign country will be easier if one can speak/understand the language (just a little will doâŠ)
4: When using Lawyers⊠be sure to only use those who speak oneâs own language.
5: If one is falsely accused⊠one needs to dispute such⊠through the official channels.
6: One needs to breathe deeply and relax⊠and not assume that âCorrupt Revengeâ is out there⊠somewhere⊠seeking its preyâŠ
Seriously, if you are an innocent victim⊠I wish you wellâŠ
If you are just having a laugh⊠Iâm laughing with you (not at youâŠ)
An aqaintance of mine in Germany had to take the âidiot testâ because he lost his licence as a result of collecting 17 speeding tickets and 127 parking violations in one-and-a-half years. Worst of all it wasnt all his. The daughter had a somewhat lead boot.
Hopefully, the daughter will learn not to be so heavy on the pedal⊠before there is a more serious outcome than âjustâ a speeding ticketâŠ
itâs sad to read about the accidents on our roads⊠so many lives lostâŠ
Hello Stella
The other comments are predictable, of course and previously my view would probably be in the same camp
Your comprehension is appreciated, thank you.
Its one of those things that you only belive if it happens to you. All the lawyers I spoke to specialsed in road law and all said the same thing. Which is, the police do not have to show you a record of the accusation. Their word is simply enough. There was no camera involved. What started out as a routine inspection turned into a speeding offence after 3 to 4 minutes of them discussing my french driving license amongst the 3 of them. I had a gps app running on my moto which had recorded my maximum speed in my journy. One of the three was not comfortably with what they did but it is what it is. Nothing will change what happened i was just here to look for details on the psyco test.
What does the procĂšs verbal say? There is always a procĂšs-verbal even if there isnât a measure by speed-gun.
That isnât true, you have to see the procĂšs verbal.
And people resident in France with a UK licence can and do get points, if their vehicle is registered in France, they just have a virtual points account linked to the carte grise.
Did you get this rozzers name by any chance? because with the info given on here, there is something afoot which doesnt seem to add up.
the police do not have to show you a record of the accusation: maybe in Dodge city they dont but I am pretty sure here it is different.
What started out as a routine inspection turned into a speeding offence: This bit doesnt add up and what gave them the idea you were speeding?
âComme Ă©voquĂ© plus haut, le procĂšs verbal devra Ă©voquer les circonstances permettant dâindiquer que la vitesse Ă©tait excessive dans le cas prĂ©cis.â
This link explains a bit more about the test, and gives a further link for practice.
I had a very similar experience in Monaco where they fined me 350 for âgoing too fastâ never saying what that actual was. I was doing around 30 in a 50 zone and another 250 because my car was too loud. I was in a regulay un modified mini.
I paid the fine and contested, thats the procedure. They wrote back saying yeah we looked into it and we are keeping the funds.
Its the same with my licence suspension, it simply is whatever they say it is.
When its your turn you can try standing up for your rights but from my experience it is futile.
Funny how it has happened to you more than once, donât you think?
I reckon I have a 50:50 success rate. Better if stopped as more chance of being let off with a lecture (not for speeding, as I tend not to, but other infractions).
Next time try a LRAR with all the evidence of you innocence (if you are innocent of course!)
No Vero, Funny its not.
I donât read too much into it really, it just is what it is. Depending on your location it may seem unusual but in Monaco its business as usual.
You think youâve a problem. Try being married to this dork and being dragged back to his âlove nestâ from Nice airport.
Monaco is a shitty little tax haven that should be shut down IMHO. Itâs also a pretty shitty claustrophobic place with few if any redeeming features, like Dubai . It wouldnât even occur to me to take any visitors we have to Monaco.
Itâs a pity it has become so grim. My mother and my uncle went to lycĂ©e there aeons ago and were on the national volleyball and swimming teams (my mother) and swimming team (my uncle). Monte Carlo used to be lovely, I loved going to the market as a small child. Itâs certainly been as Maugham said âa sunny place for shady peopleâ for a long time but now itâs really full of spivs.
