Seems like an oportunity to pass on a nice little snip from the NYT piece about the symbolism of the late Queen’s accountrements - hats, dogs, Land Rovers etc.

She had [whoops! … put ‘has’!] a large collection of brooches. A brooch was always very carefully chosen for the occasion. With this object she was able to make a subtle point.

The Donald came on a state visit. Did he ever twig the meaning of the brooch she wore - one given to her by Barak Obama?

And, if I remember correctly, colour of outfits. Though I can’t remember the example given.

The standout example is wearing green on her visit to Eire, which includied a handshake with Martin McGuinness.
