We have an unanticipated guest this evening. She’s not very adventurous and doesn’t eat fish.
What shall I cook? I was thinking something pork, but I would honestly be grateful for any suggestions.

Frittata and a green salad?
Mushroom and courgette risotto
Spaghetti and pangrettato (no anchovies)
Aubergine parmigiana
Tomato or red pepper tarte tatin with potato and another veg
And if it has to be meat then chicken is usually the safest. All of the above can have some cold meat on the side, or lardons added, for carnivorous people.
How are you cooking for your other guests?
If you are using the grill or barbecue how about putting a couple of lamb chops on at the same time?
Try and cook something thatvwill go with the same accompaniments as your fish.
Grilled chicken marinated in yoghurt, lemon juice and oregano, with a pinch of salt. Pasta, sprinkled with grated parmeggiano (sp) cheese and butter, salad with red peppers.
These are great ideas - thank you! I’m particularly comforted by the understanding that a hot dish would be okay.
(And, grâce à vous, I have some ideas for next time, too )
I like to do chicken breasts made into a roll, stuffed with a prune and mushroom stuffing and then wrapped in very fine bacon slices to hold it all together and popped into the oven. You can slice the roll hot or alternatively cook it well in advance and slice and serve cold.
Brush pork chop with Dijon mustard then sprinkle with brown sugar. Grill, barbeque or even fry - delicious.
