I am sure this has been discussed in the past, is there a french website similar to “Which Local” that recommends tradesmen and locals give their reviews? I need some work done on an outside wall. It may be too small a job for a builder.

I found someone local to help clear away undergrowth and he did a very good job using an impressive-looking strimmer and cleared away all resultant rubbish to the local decheterie.
But you need to negotiate and agree on a price.

Worth asking at the mairie if there’s anyone they’d recommend.
When I was struggling to learn French as a schoolboy (nearly sixty years ago) I had the impression that the mairie was just the French equivalent of a fairly distant English Victorian neoclassical town hall (portico and pomp). Whereas these days I’m continually impressed by how French mairies are so very locally knowledgeable and supportive.

Our local Mairie keeps a list of true and trusted artisans, go ask.

Notaires can also recommend tradesmen, I’d start with mairie and maybe also neighbours.
