Registering to VOTE

https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Evening all. We've just registered to vote in the UK, having forgotten to do so for the last election. I was surprised how easy it was, with the new online services making it much simpler, despite that neither of us could remember clearly where we voted last time.

I think voting is important, even more so when the voting system is unfairly biased towards keeping the status quo

I thought it might be interesting to get stories of voting (funny or not) and ask you all how hard it has been to register in France or as an ex-pat?

I was a tad alarmed when i read the bit about "postal votes are posted within 4 days of an election" (what? it'll never arrive!) and you miss the vote if you can't get it back in time...has anyone missed a vote because of a late ballot paper arrival?
