I have a house which I intend to rent out from April this year. Before doing this I would welcome any advice on what I should/should not do. Having researched this I have already decided on the following:
- Use an agency to source a tenant and and carry out credit checks etc
- Start tenancy outside the winter months
- Take out insurance against non payment of rent etc
This is a long term project as the revenue will hopefully provide additional funds for my retirement in 20 years so I'm not trying to make a quick Euro.
Hello Julian. I am interested in renting a home in France for the summer of 2015. My intent is to pay the full amount up front. Would that be a suitable arrangement for you? I'm just curious because I'm just now looking into how to do this. Are there any other requirements by law for renting?
Hi Tracy. Thanks for the suggestion. Some very useful advice/experiences indeed.
Hi Brian
I wont necessarily be asking them to leave after 20 years as that is when I intend to start my retirement. So even when retired the rental income will be more than welcome. I'm more interested in the immediate future re Tennant rights etc. as a lot can change in 20 years
Just one minor point is getting tenants back out, even in 20 years time. French law favours the sitting tenant/occupier, not the landlord.
