RIP Chekov

Not many of the original cast left now - just Kirk and Sulu I think.

George takei is still alive I believe, met him at the Minack theatre, near Lands end.

Yes, he’s 89 and Shatner is 95.

I have been guilty of taking the wee out of Shatner more than once, and am no fan of Bezos, but all the same, kudos for the being the oldest person in space. (For a while anyway)

Are you a fan @billybutcher ? I presume so. An amazing series of series, I won’t forget one time arriving at some Uni to blag a way into the film studies course - (it might have been Sheffield or Warwick, I was on a tour) - and the lecturer interviewed me with that as the subject - how did I see it as a metaphor for the American Wild West cowboy and Indian genre etc. Never realised any of that, so back to the original comp studies idea.

I never forgot that moment though, understanding that seemingly silly programmes can in fact be quite subliminal, and culturally transformational. E.g. Uhura! (according to wikipedia, “Uhura comes from the Swahili word uhuru, meaning freedom”.

I’ve followed star trek articles ever since, and I guess there might be a PhD out there done or waiting to be done. So in honour of Walter Koenig, here’s a couple of my recent favourites - and a warning to our right wing friends - contains possibly woke content!

PS - Kirk was the murderer in several columbos’ - excellent by the way, his voice silky and loquacious (one character was a radio star).
