Very sad, he’s died at 74. I heard Driving Home for Christmas only a couple of days ago on local radio.

Let’s hope that he isn’t on “The Road to Hell”.
I think he’d been suffering from ill health for quite sometime, so perhaps not that unexpected but still sad for his family.

In a different life a long time ago, I went with a then-boyfriend to see Chris Rea in concert. As we sat there waiting for Chris to come onstage, ex-BF said he hoped that he would sing Lady in Red. 
Not surprised you chucked him after that!

My favourite too. I heard the news on the radio with much mention of Driving Home etc. and then in the evening he and that came up in a question on House of Games. But of course they didn’t have the news, being pre-recorded months or years ago.
