RIP Desmond Morris

You beat me to it, Billy. What an interesting man and an interesting obit.

I’ll always remember when be used to “ad lib” conversations that monkeys or other animals were having. Some of them were hilarious.

I think that was Johnny Morris.

Also, in his own way, brilliant

I remember as a small child and we had the black and white TV from mid 60’s, he would have a programme on at teatime all about animals especially chimps and we as a family would sit engrossed as it was entertaining to say the least. I had completely forgotten about him and TBH thought he had died many years ago. His hairline always made me stare too, coming from a family of where there were/are no bald members at all, bit like his chimps in that respect LOL

I remember that wasn’t it called Animal Magic.

No I never even thought about Animal Magic. I think the Desmond Morris programme was called Zoo Time or similar and he did have a chimp in the studio.

As a new parent, I bought his book “Baby Watching” from a second-hand bookshop in Paris about 16 years ago, and he’d signed the inside. I thought it was a good buy for a euro.

I thought it was a joke because of the Desmond Morris /Johnny Morris confusion.
