Well that truly stuffs any chance of another series of Picard.
I assume it’s a reliable report if being run by the Guardian.

Every cloud has a silver lining, but I’m sad to see him go.
Wow. I haven’t seen the show but I have only heard good things. RIP
The Bridge is looking a bit empty these days ![]()
Take his STNG legacy and dump all over it. Graphic violence, abrupt trivial endings, frustrating situations that had me shouting at the screen.
I’m a long-term StarTrek fan including enjoying the recent reboots for their own sake, but Picard had that Amazon thing of just turning the volume up too far to make it all a bit more extreme. I watched the first series and found the episodes felt a bit too long some of the time. Second series I was definitely a mixture of bored and uncomfortable some of the time. Third series killed it for me, and after a few episodes I couldn’t bear to watch any more. I was really sad, because this is a character that I liked, and I felt like it devalued the work he left behind.
A colossus of stage and screen indeed. Another sad loss for the arts. And despite the fame and adulation, a much loved, humble man.
As a family of Trekkies we are all upset but we did not know he was so ill. Warp speed 9 Jean Luc.
Something of a missed opportunity on France Info (I imagine on all the chains): they played the doubled version of his voice. Stewart’s was a lovely voice, harking back to the golden age of the stage.
I remember the first time I heard Clint Eastwood in “A Fistful of Dollars” dubbed into French. It is probably different if that was the first time you had seen the film, it will work OK, but it just jarred for me.
Edit to add…
Question: Can AI give us a real actor speaking another language?
Have the translated speech sound like the original actor’s voice?
