Roaming costs are back!

Dual SIM phone… French and UK SIM cards, just use the one needed for whatever…
Cheap plan from the UK (5£ EE) month. Cheap plan from Orange (2.99€) month. Messenger or WhatsApp for video calls.
Works well… and is cost effective.

Good news in that it is reported on the BBC web site today that Virgin Media O2 will not be re-introducing roaming charges.
It’s handy to be able to have both a UK and French nextwork (Sosh) on a dual SIM phone.
Every month they send me a text for “continued usage in our Europe Zone” which amounts to about £1,75 (so not much used )…and was in place long before UK committed the Act of Great Self Harm…so quite happy for this to continue.

@PeterE …this is virtually word for word identical to the wording regarding European usage on the O2 website.

Hi. It is the wording from the O2 site. The point I am making is although roaming fees have not been introduced, for people living in France, the fair use policy will catch you out. It is the same for most providers. They can change the fair usage policy. It doesn’t appear to be part of their T&Cs since with Three I could not cancel my contract even though the fair usage policy had changed and my number was to be blocked.

@PeterE …OK, I thought you were remarking about your EE contract.
Yes, there is a risk that the F usage policy might change, but in the meantime a weekly cost of C50p isn’t going to be a problem. In understand the basis it’s made, 1p a text etc, but can never actually see how they arrive at the charge. In fact I use my uk phone mainly on wi-fi, WhatsApp and for receiving a few text alerts.
I have the Orange bolt on which allows 10hrs of calls to none French mobiles so if I want to call a chum on a foreign mobile number I use that land line, and French phone domestically.
