Roof angle or slope, in metric

Hi,

I’m tasked with finding the roof “angle” of our house. We’re fitting a flue for a wood burner. OH has asked me to calculate this while he’s away.

I think he means “slope” and my quick question to you knowledgeable folks is how would you calculate this, when standing inside and looking up at the rafters? I have access to a ladder or scaffold and spirit level.

I looked on YouTube but was finding US measurements.

Thanks in advance!

Easiest way is with a sliding bevel and protractor, or you could do it by trigonometry :thinking:

I can do algebra, and I understand angles on triangles and such. Trig…? Oh dear me I’m too basic for that :pensive: :hushed:

p = H/L X 100

might help

In the loft if you can reach the edge measure a metre horizontally along the floor underneath a beam/rafter. Mark that. Measure the height of the beam/rafter from the floor. Bung the results in the calculator below

Buy a plastic protractor at Action or add the angle finder app to your smart phone.
