Roof/Loft insulation

Hi All, my first post.

We are weeks away from signing on the dotted to complete the sale of our bit of France, small property in Dept 23 near Ladapeyre.

Trying to fully utilise the journey by, 5 days of skiing before hand and also , because I have heard it is more expensive, taking rolls of loft insulation across in the motorhome, ( it has a garage)

Can anyone advise if our insulation materials are ok to use in France. I was going to use 250 mm fibre glass and a type that the fibre glass is enclosed in a plastic sleeve.

Thanks in advance

Mel

Mel, I’m not an expert in the French requirement, but I do know some of the plastic wrapped insulation available in the UK can often sweat if exposed to high extremes of temperature, this can cause it to become wet and it starts to rot from the inside this can cause very nasty staining on ceiling plaster and damp in and around beams so worth checking what is suitable for your proposed location temperature wise not just from the French regulation perspective.

Welcome! I see no issue from a regulatory perspective unless you are building a new house but I would be interested to see exactly what the product is that you intend to use.

Hi James and Brian

Thanks for quick reply

Both look good to use, the cheaper one at the offer price is a bargain compared to what’s available here.

Although I prefer rockwool, the second one on you list does claim to be non-hygroscopic (not redily taking on water) so better than regular glass fibre. Still worth checking the Brico’s who have on-line catalogues, it just takes one to have it on promo and you may save.
