Routes in central France!

I actually think the GPS is bugging. It is saying we have 400km to go but that it will take 7 hours!!! We are heading to near Verdun and on the road to Auxerre then Troyes then across. Any hints from anyone who knows the area gratefully received,!

I’m generally confused and annoyed as when I was looking at where to book it was saying 8.5 hours via Clermont Ferrand then Dijon then up. DH decided this route looked better. I remain to be convinced :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:. We left at 9.50am and the GPS is saying well arrive at 8.40 pm which is nigh on 11 hours and we did all the way from Holland in that time 2 years ago!!!

In car SatNav, Google Maps or Apple Maps? I generally compare 'em all prior to longer trips, but use the in car version to facilitate charging.

France routes in £. Why?

Maybe it’s me, but I am puzzled as to where you are leaving and where you are going. I would help if I knew the answers to both.

Is this a phone based app. I’ve used Chrome routing before and it has a habit of defaulting to calculating it for a bicycle or by train. Your time works out at around 50 kph which may fit ?

Auxerre 40km my neck of the woods, if coming back this way call in. Mini SF GTG.

Why no just give the OP some help rather than being a KŴ with useless comments. I am setup for £ at the moment not € you can do the maths.

Welcome to the forum.
Can’t you do the same? Reading you first post on this forum, the op will end up in Dieppe (Normandie) not Verdun (la Meuse) following your directions :upside_down_face:

Try reading again, then go north as stated.

Hello Turtonm and welcome to Survive France.

It’s likely that you’re unaware that this forum tends to be one of the more pleasant corners of the internet, where members try to be polite and help each other. I find it helpful to re-read my contribution before posting to ensure that it will not be misconstrued as inflammatory.

And as for £/miles etc - bear in mind that the forum is focused on French life so people tend to think more in terms of km and € …

Totally get all that. No issue at all. I found the op’s position and posted town to town route information roads, distance time and costs. As were being questioned and also a better route north as was also mentioned but with no destination stated so i covered the bases. ok I used the wrong conversion being over in England not home in Montluçon. I changed my default and didnt think. I think thats me done on this thread for today…regards

Op stated “via Clermont Ferrand then Dijon then up.” no end destination just a drive time in hours. So i posted directions up (North) To the coastal ports. The op can take them or leave them it’s not an issue just directions up country fast saving them some time maybe.

@toryroo - Hope the journey wasn’t too bad. Enjoy your time with your son and girlfriend.
I’m no good at navigating and I have no sense of direction. I get lost going down to the bottom of our drive!
Love from Rachel xx
