Not in Germany. They were banned yesterday.
Has the 10km rule been abandonned now? I think it is but haven’t had need to find out for sure yet.
A long time ago, David!
Thank you, I thought so but had no reason to know, all I need is within that circle.
The 10, the 30km rules, and the not changing régions, all finished, spardo, several friends have already been to spain for the week-end.
Wish that was so for us but apart from the doctor and basic shopping, we need to go a bit further. The nearest beach is just over 30km away and it is soooo good to breathe sea air after a period of confinement!
Anything with a Swiss plate coming home from a weekend in Paris is just seen as a blur in the mirror and then disappearing into the wide blue yonder.
When we visit our friends in the Morvan on a Sunday for lunch, we invariably come across this phenomenon.
I didn’t even notice the 30
, and as my dog journeys were already far less frequent since I banned being away overnight at the end of 2019, I had no need to know. But a slight possibility of a requirement to collect a dog from Millau, my limit in that direction, prompted me to find out for sure. ![]()
Always best to know the parameters!
10 days obligatory quarantine now, because of the Indian variant. I’ll bet that means shopping is off the menu as well.
I was hoping we’d make it over in 6 weeks. Seriously not sure now.
Yep, heard it on France info driving back into work but they didn’t know any more details about the length of isolation or the conditions. More this evening on the news, no doubt. I think my idea of a weekend in the UK in a couple of months is slowly slipping away too
This is France! Shopping is not off the menu, you are allowed to leave your place of quarantine for essential shopping and things like trips to the doctors.
I did Valencia ES and back - 1st May Torigni-Bayonne, 2nd May frontier at Hendaye/Irun. Crossed back into FR on May 11th.
There was NO Spanish presence at the border at all, either way. Not a single policia lounging about with a ciggie.
The FR douane standing in front of my lane at the Hendaye peage clocked the RHD/FR plates and I knew I was up for a check over. This went perfectly well because I had prepared my re-entry dossier - neg test [€70 in ES.] attest application for CdJ, rental agreement, car papers - good feeling to have those checked over and found to be kosher.
I was pulled over 2 hrs up the road again by the douanes. They were looking for smuggle-stuff but checked the car papers and all the e-entry docs when they learnt I had been in ES.
Other than that, only the price of peages on the southbound trip caused any upset.
Yes - so I now understand. However restricted to two hours from 10:00 to 12:00, more tests as well (PCR within 36 hours of travel which will be quite tricky for the ferry).
I’m wondering in that case whether we can still visit France in the summer by extending our stay to include the quarantine period. It would add still more to the cost with PCR tests already a factor. Will need to wait to hear the details. I imagine a lot of Brits will be cancelling their accommodation.
@anon88169868 and @MichaelL - at least any tests you need to take in France are free for tourists now so that shouldn’t be an extra cost and tests, at least around here, are not at all tricky to arrange…
Good news - do you have a link to that info?
Hang on a mo… I’ll go and find it. It was announced a couple of days back I think…
Here’s the mention in The Local - 17th May. I’ll see if I can find it ont the government site
Thanks, though to be honest the cost of PCR tests in France was never the biggest headache - but every little helps
