I need some technical advice, which hopefully I may get here.
I have a Crypto box 752HD combo STB it is attached to a motorized dish which enables me to pick up a variety of satellite feeds, one of which is Astra 19.2E.
Furthermore, I now want to use this same STB in the south of France, where I have a fixed dish pointing only to Astra 19.2E. If I replace the currently installed TNT box I have in France with the Crypto box, will I be able to pick up all the channels I used to get with the TNT box ?
The Crypto box will already have all the channels I currently have scanned and saved, but this would have been from the UK, pointing at Astra 19.2E. I am wondering if the Astra 19.2E position in France will be viewed in the same way so that it’s just a question of plugging the Crypto box up and expecting all the channels to appear ?
If this is not going to work, I am not sure what else I can do to get the Crypto box to see 19.2E because the fixed dish is currently pointing in that position.
Lastly I am slightly confused about the GPS position I have here in the UK, my STB agrees with my GPS locator the Latitude position which is “north”, but the longitudinal position on my STB is giving the box an “east” position but my GPS locator gives a “west”
Hi JohnH,
Yes I can get all the Astra 19.2E channels in the UK, I will be going down to France at the end of this month, so I just wanted to be sure this is not going to be a wasted effort.
Hi NotAI.ot,
I actually get Astra 28.2E/F/G via a separate larger dish, I have no problem getting that satellite, my question really related to the Astra 19.2E satellite with its own fixed smaller dish that already picks up that satellite but with a French TNT STB.
The separate question I posed at the end was about the position of my motorized dish here in the UK, and what position it sits in relative to my GPS locator and the actual position setup by the dish installer many years ago. I hope this clears up any confusion
It’s the same satellite so it will be viewed the same. The position and LNB skew will be slightly different because your location has changed but if the dish already gets TNT then it’s aligned correctly.
Just had a thought about whether TNT Sat via Astra 19.2 requires a deciphering card ?
It has been a while since I tried using Astra 19.2, and am not aware of current requirements to be able to deciper the signal.
Yes, that is an extremely good question as I do use a card to access the French,Austrian & German channels with the TNT STB so it could be that my crypto box will not work on it’s own.
By the way thank you for all of the contributions here, they have all been most welcome.
