Over the last two weeks I have had two emails that are scams. One is allegedly from ImpotsGouvFr although the email address comes from Universitas, Negeri, Yogyakarta Indonesia. The second allegedly from Direction generale des Finances publique, is from a University Butuan in the Phillipines. Both are offering me refunds. I have not clicked on any of the links. Clearly these students have too much time on their hands. Is there a web site that I can forward these to so they can investigate if they want, or do I just dump them in the scam folder and look out for the next one.
Local gendarmerie will give you details of where to forward them too. They have dedicated cyber investigators etc.
Very tedious.
Fortunately you checked the “from” addresses, which is always worth doing with “official” emails.
And of course the best policy is to go direct to the relevant website and never click on the embedded link.
Most government websites (in most countries I think) have some sort of “report phishing” email address that you can forward these things to.
And I was today years old when I discovered that the French word for “phishing” is “hameçonnage” (not “poissonage” )
Impôts.gouv don’t seem to offer this - perhaps too many to count! They just provide advice
I think you can report this sort of thing on the Gendarmerie Ma Sécurité app. Sure I’ve seen it on our Gendarmerie PanneauPocket page.
There is info at
It has a button to report online fraud attempts but it doesn’t seem to extend to email based fraud. You may find a way to report this on the website though.
