Hi,can anyone tell me the correct way to scan a QR code please.Have tried a few times but to no avail.I was led to believe that you just put your phone on camera mode and hover over QR code and all the info is transferred to your phone. When i do this, nothing happens, someone said that you need to download a QR scanning app,but not sure how true that is either, sorry, not in to tech, but like everyone,we are slowly getting forced to use it,thanks in advance.
It depends on your phone. My camera app displays a little link when you look at a QR code. If yours doesn’t do that then you might need an app.
I use a separate reader which allows me to look at the result before following any links.
Often an app will want a QRcode in which case it will activate the camera itself.
You need a QR code reader application - that will use the phone camera to read the code.
On my iPhone you just tap on the link that appears on your camera’s “viewfinder”.
I’m on Android and within the camera app I have a little icon that I can press that will open up Google Lens.
Google Lens can scan QR codes, and it also does other things such as translate text in images, identify plants, search for specific buildings, etc…
I had no idea that was the Google lens icon.
Translation etc goes to the mothership, so be careful with anything confidential.
Please share.
Is that an app on your phone or another device.
Phone.
Thanks for replies,i checked with an online QR code test sample to see if my phone is scanning ok and it is,so it must be the QR code that this company sent me that does not work,if these companies insist on using such a system,i do wish that they would make sure that they actually work first, rant over till the next bit of tech that doesn,t work.
I really hate those restos where instead of having a printed menu, you have to scan a QR code on the table top and then (if you have a signal) try to read the menu on a tiny phone rather than a sheet of A4.
Yes a step unecessary.
I just tell them, truthfully, that I don’t have a smartphone, and then they usually seem to be able to find a printed version of the menu.
I had a problem scanning my computer screen to pay Taxe Fonciere in my android phone camera, which has for other things produced a link I could use.
However, once I switched off VPN and made sure that both devices were using my French modem and not going through the UK-tuned router, it worked.
