Serge the llama was last week kidnapped from his circus troupe in Bordeaux and taken for a walk, five men were later detained after they pushed the animal on to a tram at Bassins. The circus were initially keen to press charges but have subsequently withdrawn their complaint as no animals were injured.
Several ponies and a Zebra were also released when the men, having recently left a nightclub removed Serge as a prank.
One of the five told the Sud Ouest “It wasn’t an act of animal liberation, or anything we planned. It was just done spur of the moment.”
Fans of Serge or his kidnappers have setup a page on Facebook which has already attracted hundreds of thousands of followers. When questioned by BMFTV on his new found fame Serge refused to comment.
