We have never seen a skip in our area 71, does skip hire exist in France?

They don’t look like UK skips.
In the UK I often hired mini skips, but haven’t been able to find their equivalent here (NW Aveyron). However, the first time I hired a big benne, I was surprised not just by its size, but by the number and variety of road signs that came with it.

Transit backed skips (or other vehicle marques) are available in this area, but just be careful that one does not mix the rubbish loaded. If mixed rubbish, as my neighbour did, it will be tipped on your courtyard/drive until you sort it properly.
