I have just been visiting my family in Munich, which used to be a beautiful clean city.
Due to the ban on smoking in restaurants there are now more tables on the pavements and cigarette butts are now everywhere.
I am asthmatic and cigarette smoke is one of the triggers for an attack.
I was affected just sitting on a bench in the Englischer Garten because I didn’t spot someone on the next bench lighting up. The wind blew the smoke onto me and I immediately lost my voice and my chest tightened.
I will be writing to the City of Munich and telling them how appalled I was to now find their streets so dirty and pointing out to them that they could be making money by including cigarette butts as litter.
