So you want to operater a gite?

tsomeone, few days ago mentioned gites and said that owning one/more than one

seems to be a good way of making a living/money.

Well, yes....but like everything it depends what you start with and what you put into making

the property special, keeping it special and letting everyone know how to book it.

Superb photos are vital.

I know zero about taking pics but I now know to leave them to an expert...

Not to leave pipes and things in pools and to make sure that there are some

brightness amongst the morbid white.

Gites can be taken from the basic format of rentals of a few hundred euros per

week to becoming a gracious party venue for the rich and partially famous up many

thousands of euros per week....perhaps 40.000.

Ah yes....can be done with effort, commitment and staff.

Naughty? Moi? Barbara. Surely not.

Yes.

Exactly.

The marketing and the clients e mails/requests are never ending.

That is what makes it work.

Yes David that is true.

You must be aware of your environment or....

ARE playing naughty boy once more.

as with life running a holiday cottage is difficult, you need a target base ie UK, Dutch, Germans, Yanks and even Scandinavians., you will have to put several hours of hard graft in, then during the quiet season there is all ways maintenance and upkeep.

a lot of people come over and set up running a gite and end up paying for somebody to do all the domestic chores for them, well there goes your profit.

an average family of four in the UK spends approx £3000 on an annual holiday, so if you think they can go to Greece for that amount you are going to find it difficult to get guests. the only thing going for the business is that the business is that the pound is strengthening and will do for the next eight months, may be reaching €1.35 to the £1. plus the UK economy is the strongest in Europe and is growing.

to keep costs down you have to do a lot of things yourself and all ways have the best affordable products in use.

If you're really famous could you stretch to 60,000 a week.
