Hola

Try a search in Pagès jaunes first (use ébéniste)..

Ah: edit, as @vero says…

https://www.artisan-ebeniste.com/entreprise_localisation/toutes-les-regions/aquitaine/lot-et-garonne/

We inherited 2 huge chestnut tables just like the one you need and they were made by a local cabinet maker.

Also….look for a proper antiques market….the best ones I know of are in Pézenas (a whole street of them) but that’s a day trip for you and there must be some in your Dept?

Try D’stock47 in Sainte-Bazeille - mainly electrical but also some furniture - worth checking when you pass as the destockage places are getting new stuff in all the time. We bought a beautiful French oak kitchen table with two extension leaves from a destockage place (sadly now closed). Weighs a ton, superbly made.

Thanks sue, I will try that . Let you know.

Nowhere near you I’m afraid but we were lucky enough to pass a brocante which also offered made to measure stuff so we popped in one day and asked how much - which turned out to be surprisingly affordable in the scheme of things - 1500€ for a table of similar size to yours in chestnut.

You are welcome and I think you will be sorted if you find a decent ébéniste locally and they will then deliver - the beauty of this is that you can get the sizing just right for your room.

Excuse the mess but this one is 1m x 2.4 m and seats 8. All in the ubiquitous chestnut.

Hahaha…you wanna see one of my many ‘drawers of shame’ ?

Nah! You can still see the bottom of the drawer - again, just not trying.

My ‘tin of shame’ then?

Hello,

This craftsman makes bespoke pieces from solid wood. I bought some excellent-quality stools from him. He’s based in eastern France, but ships throughout France. It might be worth giving him a call…

Many thanks, will check out.

Often crop up on LebonCoin when people are clearing out parent’s houses after death. Some really good stuff as well because depot vents pay very little to sellers but sell big to buyers.

I’d be keen to know where that is

Saint Congard - on the left as you go towards Malestroit

A couple of points to add:

Extendable dining tables are very common in France.

The traditional long drawer farmhouse tables from brocantes may not come with extension/s, but often have provision for one or two. We’d had ours for a couple of years before I noticed this feature and it was easy to add an extension. I later made another one for the drawer end of the table, but put the supports outside the table frame and added a bolt on either side (thus one could still open the drawer when the extension was attached).

Modern extendable dining tables are popular and worth considering, but have different extension systems to the above.

Lastly check the width of your exterior door before buying an old table - we only got ours inside after we’d removed the front door

What mess ! 1/10 for effort

I’ve got a double degree in mess. In the bedroom, in the front room, in the hall, in the kitchen, in the bathroom. In the cupboards, in the drawers and the work surfaces.

And not forgetting Stuart who can never find anything in his workshop, especially on his work bench.

It’s just what architects consider to be a ‘mess’…
