Spain has the courage to say it like it is

Sky tv news, had a headline rolling banner saying Spain had changed their minds and would allow US access to their bases.
They also had another one claiming the drone attack on Brit base, wasn’t Iranian.
But I didn’t get to listen to the news and can’t seem to find any reporting online!

The part I saw, believe it was launched from Gaza

The fog of war :face_with_hand_over_mouth: The fundamentals remain the same, the devious bastard Netanyahu has dragged the idiot Trump into a war the American (and the rest of the World) people didn’t want. It is time to stand up to him.

Totally agree John, I hope Spain stick to their guns and tell him to sod off.
Hopefully this current sorry mess will accelerate the demise of US domination, but I won’t hold my breath.

You should know by now Tim he and all his henchpeople are liars.,

Morning opening: Spain dismisses suggestions it changed position on Iran

Spain has emphatically dismissed US suggestions that it changed its view on the Iran war and is now prepared to let the US use its bases to support the mission.

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, suggested to reporters last night that Madrid now backed the US’s military action after facing public criticism from Trump, who threatened to “cut off all dealings with Spain.”

“I think they heard the president’s message yesterday loud and clear,” Leavitt told a news briefing. “It is my understanding over the past several hours they’ve agreed to cooperate with the US military.”

Well, not really.

Our Madrid correspondent Sam Jones says her comments sparked another angry reaction from top Spanish politicians, with foreign minister José Manuel Albares telling Cadena Ser radio on Wednesday night:

“Our ‘no to war’ stance remains clear and unequivocal.

She may be the White House press secretary, but I’m the foreign minister of Spain and I’m telling her that our position hasn’t changed at all.

Ouch.

All going nicely on our (EU) side… :slightly_smiling_face:

‘We will not allow ourselves to be divided,’ German FM says backing Spain after Trump’s trade threats

On that note, Germany has offered its solidarity with Spain in a marked change of tone, after chancellor Friedrich Merz’s previous refusal to defend the European partner in front of Donald Trump sparked some tensions between Madrid and Berlin.

German foreign minister Johann Wadephul said that Spain can rely on solidarity from the European Union, and from Germany, when it comes to the threat of new US trade barriers, Reuters reported.

“We will not allow ourselves to be divided**; we stand firmly together,**” he said at a press conference with his Moldovan counterpart, Mihai Popsoi.

There was a time when having sunk an enemy warship the decent thing to do was to stop and pick up survivors. Clearly those particular US submariners have no concept of common decency or chivalrous conduct. There were no other Iranian vessels in the vicinity posing a threat. A clear violation of the laws and customs of the sea. Totally unacceptable.

America first. :frowning:

And just in case we accuse only the Republicans of being murderous Nazi’s, there’s always this from a so called Democrat, John Fetterman. Not sure whether he’s recently gone over to the dark side or whether his stroke has tipped the balance - but this is unsanctioned assassination he’s proposing:

“Yeah just keep killing them until they’re gone,” Fetterman said. “I mean, absolutely. I’ve read that they’re (Israel is) going to target who they (Iran) ever elect to be their next leader and kill them. Absolutely. I fully support it. So, that’s what’s entirely appropriate.”

When Bolduan pushed further on the issue, asking Fetterman who should decide the leader of Iran“if you think the United State should take part in taking out every next leader going forward” if the leader doesn’t meet the right measure, he responded by saing he “absolutely” supports killing the leadership of Iran.

“Hey, I’m sorry, I absolutely support killing, you know, the leadership of the Iranian. Absolutely. I absolutely support that,” Fetterman said. “I think that’s entirely appropriate until hopefully they’ll pick someone that realizes that they need to live and coexist in peace in the region and stop trying to destroy Israel and to stabilize the region.”

Right idea, wrong country. Should apply the same logic to the US first.

As Spain said sometime ago (Monday?) this is not a limited clash between the dictatorships of Israel, Iran and the US - when you “order” half a million people to leave their own homes you are not in control of events “Israel orders more than 500,000 people to evacuate Beirut’s southern suburbs”

I don’t think Israel, or indeed any other country, has the right to order anyone to do anything outside their own borders. Advise – OK. Order – No.

Advise - OK. Order - No. Kill - OK.

The world according to Ben and Don.

Sadly, they will both go to their graves still thinking that they were right.

Allah shall prevent them from entering paradise.

Doesn’t international law / Geneva convention or something, require it picking up survivors? Or just not to fire on survivors in the water.

The thing is if we cut off trade, then obviously US de-membership of NATO will immediately also openly be the case. And who’s waiting to make a move on Europe then?
