Speaking of nonsense on YouTube (Macron)

Macron is taking Candace Owens to court over her claim that Brigitte Macron is a man.

Candace Owens is a repellent waste of space but I’m not sure suing her will do any good.

I recall a quote from Margaret Thatcher about the “oxygen of publicity”.

I suppose the three children that she had with her previous husband don’t count?

Who is Candace Owens and does anybody care what he/she/they think?

She’s your common or garden right wing online grifter. She actually started off as more of a centrist democrat but as with a dozen or more of these online grifter types, the MAGA movement became the perfect opportunity to fill her pockets so she started down the road of becoming more and more controversial. She’s classic hyper MAGA; antisemitic, anti black (despite being black), anti immigrant, anti LGBT.

In Trump’s America you can say the most horrific things and the worse they are the more half the country will enjoy it, and this weird strand of deciding anyone they don’t like is a trans woman is one of the nastiest. They’ve been suggesting Michelle Obama is trans for decades. The fact it’s ridiculous makes no difference, it all ties in to the attempts by the Christian right both in the US and UK to eradicate trans people entirely, just another way to spread hate.

I think that’s the nub of it, that’s what these people do and the Internet delivers them the audience to do it.

The most prevalent and vile antisemitism in the States is not from MAGA, it’s from the woke left. Candace Owens is a disgusting antisemite, but she’s not MAGA, she hates Trump. And outside of the woke left, her antisemitism is not the norm. On the right, only the ultra extreme white supremacists are antisemitic. Whereas it has become almost “mainstream thinking” among the woke left.

What’s your interest in France, Jane? Quite an interesting first post.

Who mentioned antisemitism? I smell vile prejudice.

The likes never fail to make me chuckle.

‘Woke left’ seems redundant.

Depends what you think woke means.

I lived there for 12 years. Currently weighing up pros and cons of moving back. Macron and the excessive number of terrorist-supporters being one of the cons.

Kirsteastevenson mentioned antisemitism first. First paragraph.
Who is commenting without reading?!

You really do have a strange outlook so I think I’ll leave it there.

That was absolutely not my experience living there on and off for 15 years, and travelling to most states as part of my work, but we all have different experiences so yours obviously is.

I suppose some might say either one of the words is redundant alongside the other. Like “overused clichĂ©â€. Over usage is what makes an expression a clichĂ©.
Giving the benefit of the doubt though, I prefer not to assume that all left are woke.

I think Macron and the concept of supporting Palestine rather than the Israeli government are here to stay so perhaps you should stay where you are, @jane_johnston

You think macron’s here to stay?? Interesting. Perhaps you envisage France as a totalitarian state like Iran. Fortunately, last time I looked, France is a democratic social republic with a semi-presidential political system.
