in all fairness.. the correct response was given by Jane quite some way back up the thread… which did then wander a bit as is the norme. 
These Goats should be reported to the Mairie! The Mairie will contact the Owner and… blah blah blah.

Not the same goat presumably given that it needs a slow cook at the best of times.
Though probably destined for the same fate.

I can tell you from personal experience that castrating a male cat does not necessarily stop him having that tom cat smell at times

One of our neighbours had unfenced goats. It took a village petition to the Maire to get anything done about it.
The day afters I assumed.

I never said it did. Goats are the animal being discussed here.
Roughly translated as the animal pound. Responsible for catching and dealing with errant animals. Each marie “should” have a link to one.
True, but I thought the law said each commune should have space for at least 2 dogs, I don’t know of any that do except for Vergt, south of Perigueux which has a rather luxurious caged space for several dogs to wander, eat and sleep in.
This was because Rikky. with his wife the founder of Phoenix was based there, was on the board of the local SPA and managed to talk the council into installing it
don’t know that law… we don’t have any such facility.
La Chasse and a local Dog Charity will help out when they can… but it’s nothing official.

No, but I picture them getting low, taking a dump.

Yes, how did you achieve this? It will happen to someone else so good to share the magic that made then disappear.
I assumed that ‘are no more’ meant are no longer amongst the living, but I may be wrong.

well, we had to go to the gendarmes to file a report and then take a copy of the report back to the Mairie. They got onto someone from the prefecture and a few days later we were told authorisation had been received to shoot them. Three officials turned up with guns and took each one of them out with a single shot. Regrettable but humane. I have to say the Mairie were superb. They had never dealt with it before but got it sorted out for us in less than two weeks. Can you imagine that happening in the UK?
