Squirrels

Hi,

We are plagued with squirrels in our bedroom ceiling. Its a loft conversion type room with internal cladding which follows the roof line. Some how the squirrels manage to get under the tiles and squeeze there way along (probably eating the insulation/roofing felt on the way)

It is loud enough to keep us awake and sometimes wakes us, so it is becoming a pain to say the least!

We have some tree branches that overhang the house so we intend getting those cut back.

My questions are:-

1 Are there any good deterrents that readers can recommend

2 Do the local councils in France employ pest controllers and if so what are the called?

Thanks,

Dave

You'll know when they're dead by the smell ;-)

If they're jusst running around and not making any noise they're probably rats, we get them under the roof each autumn/winter when it gets colder, just put down some mort-aux-rats ;-)

They are likely to be LĂ©rots or Loirs rather than squirrels and they are both protected. Maybe something that makes an unpleasant noise eg electronic game etc or smell eg mothballs would make them go away
