Oh, good question… Seems it depends on the version of Starlink hardware you’ve got. An adapter is apparently needed if it’s the 1st generation.
That’s a great link, thanks for sharing!
Almost ready to order, just trying to get the timing right so it doesn’t arrive too soon before we drive out to France, I can see it says it will dispatch in 1-2 weeks, wondered how long it then takes to arrive and is there any flex with a delivery date?
Finally, for this trip I may site the antennae on a pole outside my office window, so I was curious what sort of connector it is between the antennae and router, is it a standard ethernet, in that I may bring a shorter version along as the default one provided will be pretty long for what I need short term. Cheers.
It depends upon which generation antenna you get. I have Gen 2 (with the motors) - it comes with 25 metres of cable (I ordered a longer lead separately). The connectors are bespoke, which is why you may need an adaptor at the router end. I also bought a pole mount adaptor.

The latest Starlink kit offered for new subscribers use RJ45 connectors. On the supplied Router there are two spare RJ45 ports for connecting external devices such as switches, or WiFi mesh systems.
That’s useful. When I ordered last year, there wasn’t a choice - Gen 2 only.
By the way, this bit about the dish needing 100% clear sky, whilst I think it’s pretty decent where we are, we are in the middle of the woods, is there any margin of error if the odd tree distracts that 100%!
Cheers.
No, I have the odd tree impinging. When you get the kit, it will scan for obstructions. It is fairly forgiving.
