Hi guys. Does anyone else have an infestation of these insects?
We’ve tried everything but still they persist.
If you have comfort, advice, anything to say I’d love to hear it. We’re in the Lot et G.
Hoover everywhere (tops of curtains are a favourite, as are edges of lampshades and bedheads) - remove full hoover bag, put into black sack. Tie sack securely and put in rubbish bin.
Do this daily (sorry) especially towards evening. And manage your own expectations for this summer - we had it bad last year, this year we have far fewer (so far).
Sorry about the lack of comfort.
Hello. We are also in L+G. When we first opened our house up after purchase 3 years ago we found there were thousands between the shutters and windows, but very few indoors.
Over the last three years, they have got less and less. Hardly an issue at all now. Perhaps 6 a day?
Apparently they lay eggs on underside of leaves, but I have never seen them. Also “in addition to outdoor plants, stink bugs can also lay their eggs indoors. If they find their way into your home, they may lay eggs in crevices, behind furniture, or even on curtains. This is less common, but can occur particularly during colder months when these pests are seeking warmth and shelter.”
All we have done is to tidy up the garden near the house and used bark to cover soil. Mossie blinds on all windows. Washed all curtains. No idea if those are the actions that have affected the bugs but something has.
Good luck with your hunt!
Graeme
I am one who is not annoyed by these insects at all, I pick them up carefully and escort them outside. If they are near death they fall to the ground but, if not they fly away with my good wishes, sorry if that is in your direction.
Maybe they appreciate this because I see less and less each year and it is many years since they emitted anything that could be described as a stink.
Put one in a jam jar and put the lid on, wait a while and then sniff - not a smell you forget easily.
Why would you do such a thing, unless you like it? As it happens, my memory tells me that it smelled of almonds which was not unpleasing to me.
