Ooh, that was a once in a generation storm for where we are. 3 trees down and chimney caps (slabs) fell onto the roof creating 2 new starlight air conditioning vents in the roof.
Luckily I’ve had 7 Manouche turn up today offering to help. All with siret numbers but based 300Km from here. I tell you, they’re like the number 13 Clapham Omnibus service, or 72, whatever.
I think I’ll look at the stars for another night and wait for the ‘Expert’ to assess first.
It is easy to check out siret numbers online. I highly recommend searching their credentials before.
Thanks, leccy had just come back on when we got home from the dechetterie about 5pm, to our very great relief. I had to read books instead of forums - it was awful.
But it’s great to know we’ll have hot showers before leaving tomorrow, and everything can be turned off properly. Scary how much we rely on electricity. We heard that this was the 3rd significant power cut so far this year, although by far the longest. I’m very glad we chose to fit a wood burner in the living room, so that there will always be a heat source that’s not dependent on power - a lesson learned in the UK.
Very hot this morning here in Trivy south 71.
The pool is already like a tepid bath.
Thank goodness we have our dripper system for all our fruit trees .
Apparently our local Lot Valley destruction was not caused by strong winds, but by a tornado. which explains why so many mature trees hadn’t simply ‘snapped’, but had been twisted until they shattered in the course of a few minutes. I’d not previously understood why the debris was different to that resulting from a normal orage.
Fortunately, viewed from across the river, the forest looks largely unchanged.
