We just got grey skies, a few rumbles of thunder and dinner was rescheduled for sur la terrasse.
Nr Riberac (24300) here, it seems to have gone round us. Bit windy and then nothing, watching the lightening in the clouds in the distance - moving away from us going North.
Just been looking at lightningmaps.org Massive storm off the coast of Perpignan by the looks of it.
About 1000k south of us in the sweltering
30 c North
We had a lot of rain and there was thunder and lightning for most of the day, it seemed to be trapped in the Golfe du Lion. The electricity went off late afternoon and hadn’t been restored when we went to bed.
It’s calm today and you can see Mont St Clair and Sète across the bay again. Yesterday afternoon, for a while we couldn’t see the lifeguard station across the road.
We are waiting for our forecast storm.
I hope it doesn’t block out our satellite signal as it is the Men’s Final at Wimbledon.
Ours has gone, so I set up the PC connected to my VPN router casting to the TV. Then after four games the internet went
. Currently watching on my tablet with VPN connected to the hotspot on my phone. Can’t cast to the TV in that configuration ![]()
The Narbonne area has had huge storms again today, torrential rain and pounding waves. I had the same two recorded messages from the mairie and then others to the landline from Orange.
By then, there had been some huge thunderclaps and the power had gone off. OH checked and nothing has tripped, so it must be all of our area. I can’t got out and check houses further away that might be occupied without getting drenched and/or blown to bits.
But the wind-up radio/torch/mobile charger could be useful later. I know I posted about that one someone else’s thread in the summer but I can’t find it. ![]()
Pretty wild here in the Black Mountains as well, but not like you had. The far North East of Spain and the Balearics got it much worse. Watched it on lighteningmaps.org
I hope it calms down soon where you are, hairbear. It’s not too bad here now, still dull but not raining and the wind and waves are better.
I’d forgotten about lightening maps, will have a look. Poor people in those Spanish areas.
I’ve been trying to look at the lightning finder URL you provided, but I keep getting ads instead ![]()
It could be a typo, Mary.
good point, I’ll look for it another way.
edit… oh, maybe I see it. Yep: Real Time Lightning Map :: LightningMaps.org
Cheers
Sorry, I inadvertantly added a misplaced ‘e’. It’s
We have been using this for years. Very useful.
Yes, I do too.
Quite often storms are forecast but will they actually arrive ??
By using the Lightning Maps thingy I can check if there really is anything heading our way if/when I need to walk to the Bins etc etc… rather than cowering indoors ![]()
We had it bad here yesterday morning, not seen rain like that for a couple of years along with crashing thunder and sheet lightning. Luckily the ground was so dry it soon disappeared and today the snow up high looks spectacular in the sunshine.
