well done Jane, that was worth watching. never seen him before, but loved his gentle-giant persona… :+1: :+1:

Yes this man in pink is graceful and styish

I don’t. And I’d rather poke my eyes out than watch people doing ballroom type dancing. Ditto racing cars/motorbikes/snooker/darts/soccer and probably lots more.

very dramatic. Can not find my punctuation marks.

How I met my partner. We were competition dancers (though him much more eminent than me).

The guy in pink has a natural musicality. If he learns to get his bum over his feet he will be very, very good indeed.

But surely you like to watch ice skating Vero? The principles are much the same.

No  I like watching the very occasional bit of virtuoso almost anything but I’m not an avid or regular watcher.

I sympathize where car racing, motorbikes and especially darts are concerned. Don’t mind two people competing with each other in darts, but find the setup, the crowds, the noise and so on, in the background to be quite crude…!

Not much difference to horse racing

Oh dear, @vero! Doesn’t your village sing the Marseillaise, with increasing omissions, at the local bar each time France plays footy?
What’s not to love?!

I do enjoy an Olympics.

My fav is male gymnastics - a magical combination of strength and grace. I also loved watching Usain Bolt the first time and thinking he was the fastest human on the planet.

And, the Olympics are only every 4 years :star_struck:

I’ve never heard howling and screaming at any football or rugby league matches I’ve been to! Are you thinking of schoolgirls watching the Lionesses at Wembley?

A lot of the crowd for the Lionesses were men

oh maybe it is fighting and yelling at football matches.
But it is not dignified and gentle is it?

I think SCD is the biggest load of tripe ever broadcast but good luck to those who like it.

Screamy TV :fearful:

So you think dancing is a load of tripe? How sad. Singing and dancing are both joyful, and to do either well requires training and skill.

Forget the glitter, cheesy commentary and loud audience and just watch people learning to do something that requires all sorts of skills. And not only achieving it, but doing so with style.

And I think it’s great that it attracts young people too, who are inspired about the possibility of achieving something through hard work. Far different from reality TV that is just about people’s looks or sex appeal.

But maybe you can jive like a pro already….

I always wonder where people get these TVs where you can’t change the channel or switch them off but are forced to watch things you don’t want to

Yes Jane utter tripe, not the dancing but the over-egged glitz.

But that’s brill that you and millions of others enjoy it.

I enjoy most sports but for me boxing is sooo boring. I respect the millions who do enjoy it tho.

Oh Peter we are living in a fairly miserable world just now a few hours of fun and jollyment is a breath
of fresh air. I loved dancing when I was young and if I was able to I would dance now, What a delight to
see such ambition and determination.
Not many people can dance…I mean dance not gig around like an uncle at a wedding.

Not many people can dance like the pros but I simply can’t see the entertainment value of it. It doesn’t do anything for me, like birdwatching or sailing or boxing and other inane activities (imo of course).

My daughter was telling me just the other day…
“it’s ok NOT to like/do what others like/do… just be yourself and ignore the comments/pressure”
we weren’t talking about tv but… her comments seem to fit this thread.
Seems she’s a wise lady, certainly wiser than her Mum
