Taking my solar panels to France

I am in the process of moving to France. I had solar panels installed at ground level alongwith a battery in my leasehold. I am in the process of selling my property, will take the solar panels and battery with me. No buyer has shown any interest in the panels or the battery.

Any advice on how easy or difficult it might be to get them installed in France, nearLimoges. What approvals might be needed ? It is a farm so have ample space to install them at ground level. Not that much interested in selling to the grid, but more to use the power myself.

This is something I know @Badger will be able to answer… He’s probably already answered something similar so it might even be worth checking his post history.

Planning permission is only required for anything over 1,8m in height or over 3kWc output.

Which is wise IMO, especially if you have batteries. Simple “autoconsommation” of 3kWc or under does not require to be installed by an approved specialist, or to be inspected by CONSUEL, but anything with batteries does.

However, if you are going to grid tie the system you MUST register it with ENEDIS. This involves supplying them with the paperwork that identifies what the inverters are as they need to comply with the relevant types acceptable here in France.

What size system do you have?

Much good info can be found here.

Many thanks for that.

I have a 3.6 kWc system with a 3kW inverter and a 5 kWh battery. But I am looking to extend the PV storage and maybe add more PV panels too.

If you have a controller that can be set to limit the amount of power back-fed to the grid to 3kWc then you can have more panels without getting involved with other officialdom.
