But does it run Steam games?
Only in binary mode.
i’ve only used Amazon resale once (about 2 months ago) for a vacuum sealing machine. It didn’t work, and was promptly returned and ended up buying a new one. Not sure I’d use resale again.
I probably wouldn’t either - too much opportunity for abuse. arguably eBay is a better marketplace - at least in the UK.
In fact the sole advantage I can think of is that at least returning stuff is easy.
Yes, I will give them that - returning to Amazon is easy, unless it’s a third party seller you’re dealing with, then it can get very difficult as Amazon will wash their hands of it and say they’re only a platform.
I had one who didn’t understand distance selling rules, and tried to say it was like buying from a bricks and mortar shop. They became so difficult and arrogant that I used my household legal protection and had a lawyer send a letter to remind them of their legal responsibilities… There’s no way it was going to be followed up, but they didn’t know that. They very quickly issued a refund, and didn’t even ask for the goods back!
Yes, I have to have a very compelling reason to buy anything I can’t write off from a third party seller who has not got Amazon doing customer support as well as warehousing and dispatch.
Didn’t have to go as far as a letter, just read the rules to them and they immediately capitulated.
Going back to trying to navigate purchase of Intel CPUs the situation turned out to have a silver lining after all . Looking through my stock of working (and non working) motherboards I came across the previous server board - an MSI Z690I Unify ITX.
These were really sought after about 12 months ago - fetching well over £600, I think they are still in the £400-500 bracket (there haven’t been any recent sales on eBay to check but the one listing on AliExpress is at a little over £500).
Something pinged in my memory and I couldn’t remember whether I had checked it over - one of the RAM sticks had died and I assumed the motherboard was the culprit but it is always possible it was just the RAM which pointed it’s toes skyward. A cheap (cough, everything is silly prices these days) eBay CPU and RAM stick later and it seems it works just fine. So I have an extra spare motherboard.

Don’t suppose it would help but I am selling my i7 gen8 chip at the moment.
If it’s an i7-8700K I’ll give you 40€ for it - if it’s an i7-8086K I’ll stretch to 60€ ![]()
No use € at the moment, change that to £ and if suitable it’s yours. In the UK now, if you are in France it could be tricky shipping.
Ah, it;s just an 8700, not a “K” - I have one of those I’m sure.
Sold it for £48! Very pleased
“K” for kwicker ![]()
