Telemarket telephone numbers

The LocaI put out this list of the only telephone numbers that telemarketers are allowed to use.
We blocked them last night and we have not had an annoying call today.
Numbers starting:
0162/3
0270/1
0377/8
0424/5
0568/9
O948/9

I hope this is useful information for you all and you can have no more intrusive calls.

Wow! That is wonderful. I shall try it instanter. I get 4-5-6 spam calls /day.

I have this sort of thing every day ad inf.

Are you guys not registered with bloctel.fr?

2 spam calls in 5 years registered with them.

Except, 1 or 2 spam calls daily started when I registered recently with Whatsapp, having looked carefully when I signed up and seen nothing that I’d let default to sharing my number.

Bloctel does pursue offenders and the fines they get can be quite large.

This came into force on the 1st January 2023.

I’d noticed that it’d been in the news recently as if it was new.

Just got a call from a 0377 xxxxx  :anguished:

and another from 0424.

These numbers are noted as spam by the phone but thought the idea of the list was that once it had been added to ones list of numbers to reject, the call would not get thru’…

See my list pasted in above. All those calls and hundreds more are shown as ‘undesirable’ suspected spam when they arrive, which I then block individually.

Is this all that the list can do - note calls as spam?

And it’s clear that cold callers are using banned numbers. I understand that off-shore calling centres do this.

Me too, but the phone just pinged and the call was marked as spam. :crossed_fingers:

How did you block them @Jane_Williamson, and were you able to block them all at one stroke? I have been blocking them individually but assumed that they have some switching method to avoid the blocking.

I just tried that link and it said the site was under construction.

This is the one David,

Thank you. :grinning:

individually from the list.
We will also look at Bloctel, but I seem to remember doing that some time ago.

I have made a readily available document on my desktop which will save me from looking them up each time on pages jaunes inversees.

I’ve had bloctel for a couple of years but still receive spam calls.
OH doesn’t have bloctel and receives no spam calls.

How did you block them

Can you not block numbers on your handset?

Yes, I can, and have done, but one at a time after I have checked with pages jaunes. In any case it is obvious that they use different numbers so I have no idea how many actually have been blocked but I suspect not many as they are still coming thick and fast.

By creating a file on my computer with your list on it, I can check much quicker than bumbling through pages jaunes each time. I either ignore the ones without a name or answer and say nowt before shutting it down.
When everyone I know has sent me a text for this new phone’s contacts, I will get back to just ignoring undesirables just by looking at the phone which now has a window on the cover. :joy:

I have been registered with Bloctel, since soon after it first came out. 100% useless IMHO, as I still receive lots of spam calls every day. I just leave my landline now permanently on answerphone, as the telemarketers never leave a message.

If you report to Bloctel they do pursue. Though they may have a prority of the most pestiferous companies first. They do secure convictions and fines but need to know who’s breaking the rules.

Perhaps they should get themselves a phone.

Telemarketer typically buy a block of a thousand numbers. I see the same numbers time and time again with just the last three digits changing. If you can only block whole individual numbers then you can’t win the blocking game.
Does anyone know of a telephone that can block partial numbers ? I was at one time toying with the idea of designing a gizmo that would take the caller id info from the telephone line and allow blocking of partial numbers but never got round to it.

To answer my own question, yes you can get call blocking phones, or you can get gizmos like this

It says it works in France in the bumf lower down the page.

Edit: Looked at a few solutions online but none of them explicitly say you can block a partial number. Many allow you to block anything not on a whitelist and they all have large blacklists and some have pre programmed lists of repeat offenders.
