Some of the fund-raising events are being cancelled…due to the GJaune stuff… but I hope they still get a good result…
I was hoping that the Telethon would draw people away from thinking about going out to protest… our main local event is always well attended and is good fun as the volunteers run a soup kitchen in the local factory over the whole weekend, with events and games. So fingers crossed it gets a good turnout again.
Have to wait and see what comes in over the phone lines/via computer…
Telethon has not really been on my radar so far, I thought it might be something like Children in Need but my involvement has been to put a few coins the collection boxes in the shops.
But today, while I was out shopping a French friend invited me to be included at their table at midi on Sunday. So is it a bit of a meal or what?
not enough info to make a guess… where is the meal taking place?
Usually.
Here in Trivy you can either eat in the Salle or pre order to take away.
Whatever is going-on in your area…
please have your wallet/spending-money handy as it’s all in a very good cause
We have loads of things going on for Telethon in the village. We’ve been roped in for the Repas tomorrow evening (proceeds to Telethon) but also I got enveigled into making a cake to contribute to the desserts. Saturday, at the usual Saturday market, there are crepe stalls for telethon and lots of other things. We got roped in for the Dance demo, which is a bit optimistic since we only have any chance of doing 2 out of the 4 dances but the leader asked us specially (the only Brits in the dance class)
It’s going to be a bit of a weekend…
Our local factory does a Telethon meal every year. €14 for soup with morteau sausage, cheese and coffee. It is convivial and lots of opportunities to give a bit extra with a bar, tombola, home made cakes, Christmas gifts etc.
Normally raise about €9,000!
So take lots of loose change with you (and a few notes!).
Thanks all, he just asked if I was going and I said I didn’t know about it, but yes. Then he said ‘well do you want me to book you in for our table?’ So I said yes again. Sounds like a meal, I don’t normally eat midday but it will save cooking in the evening if nothing else and no doubt I will know the others at the table
It will be a full weekend, CT on the car Saturday pm and couscous in our bar (the one that only opens for ‘specials’ about once a month) in the evening with English and French friends.
